Raising £6500 for St Michael's Hospice

Saxty’s Wine Bar of Hereford and Griffin-Lloyd Shooting Ground joined forces for the 2nd year running to raise £6500 for St Michael’s Hospice.

19 teams made up of four shooter, per team took part in a sporting competition shooting 100 targets shot over 14 stands and an individual high pheasant competition.

A fabulous glorious day teams enjoyed the sun by having a picnic out the back of their vehicles. Introductions and Team Briefings were presented by Michael Rose and Neville Symonds at 1pm. Teams made their way to the allocated stands and walk/drove round the on-way system to the various shooting stands for a fun afternoon of shooting.

The High Pheasant stand located in the valley bottom produced two testing pairs.

Some shooters had a go at the Olympic Trap before everyone made their way to Saxty’s Wine Bar for an excellent 3-course gourmet meal at 7.30pm and entertained by Geoff Miller, Chairman of the England Cricket Selectors.

Geoff Miller spent twenty years as a professional cricket player representing Derbyshire, Essex and England. He also roomed with Ian Botham on five tours! Now the Chairman of selectors for English Cricket, he is also much in demand as a after dinner speaker up and down the country with his dry northern humour and brilliant anecdotes about himself and his colleagues.

Thanks to all the teams who took part shooting, the raffle and the auction whereby a grand total of £6500 was raised for the St Michael’s Hospice.
